We will celebrate the history and achievements of the Transcendental Meditation Centers, Inc (TMC), founded 50 years ago to bring inner peace and enlightenment into communities of color. Through TMC, people in underserved communities throughout the US and internationally were introduced to the TM® technique.

These 54 studies on African Americans constitute the largest body of high-quality research in the Transcendental Meditation research cannon, which to-date numbers 429 peer-reviewed studies. Most of it is on heart disease, was supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and is comprised of randomized controlled trials. The research is largely the product of over 30 years of dedicated work by Robert H. Schneider, M.D., Charles N. Alexander, Ph.D., Kenneth Walton, Ph.D., Carolyn Gaylord King, Ph.D., Vernon Barnes, Ph.D., and Sanford Nidich, Ed.D., as well as their students and colleagues at many different universities.

Acknowledging the existence of generational trauma in Black Americans, Breathe Again - TM aims to teach, guide and empower members of the Black community through the practice of the Transcendental Meditation program. Breathe Again - TM is dedicated to helping Black people heal.

Dr. Dawit is the national Leader of the Global Country of World Peace in Ethiopia and was instrumental in organizing the historic TMC, Inc., Teachers Training Course (TTC) held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 1973. She speaks on the impact of TMC, Inc. in her life, organizing the TTC, and the history of TM in Ethiopia. She was interviewed on April 8, 2019 by Rena Boone, a graduate of that course and the Director of The Meditation Center@THEARC in Washington DC.
